HoTaq™ DNA Polymerase

  • hot-start polymerase

  • high specificity
Quantity: 500 U

Description:
HoTaq™ DNA Polymerase is a hot-start Taq DNA polymerase that is a chemically modified form of conventional Taq DNA polymerase. The enzyme remains inactive at room temperature and becomes active only after a 10-minute incubation at 95 °C, preventing non-specific amplification and primer-dimer formation during PCR setup. Its high specificity makes it suitable for routine and diagnostic PCR applications. The enzyme exhibits 5'→3' DNA polymerase activity but lacks 3'→5' exonuclease (proofreading) activity.

Features:

  • hot-start Taq DNA polymerase
  • activated after 10 minutes at 95 °C
  • high PCR specificity
  • minimizes non-specific amplification and primer-dimers
  • 5'→3' DNA polymerase activity
  • no 3'→5' exonuclease (proofreading) activity
  • supplied with 10× Taq PCR Buffer (without dNTPs)

Source:

  • recombinant Taq DNA polymerase expressed in Escherichia coli
  • chemically modified Hot-Start technology

Unit Definition:
One unit (U) is defined as the amount of enzyme that incorporates 10 nmol of dNTPs into acid-insoluble material in 30 minutes at 75 °C.

Applications:

  • routine PCR
  • diagnostic PCR
  • DNA amplification
  • molecular biology workflows
  • laboratory research
