Description
MCLAB’s 7M Guanidine-HCl Solution is a ready-to-use solution of guanidine hydrochloride, which can be easily diluted and pH-adjusted to any concentration below 7M. In addition to increasing solubility of hydrophobic molecules, guanidine is a general protein denaturant, unfolding proteins and altering their structures. This can cause some proteins to be irreversibly altered upon interaction with guanidine solutions and may lose their binding function. Before any significant use of guanidine, it is best to experiment with a small amount of the sample and conclude whether the denaturing effects will adversely affect the intended use of the protein.
Applications
Solubilizing proteins from inclusion bodies
Increasing solubility of hydrophobic peptides and proteins
Denaturing proteins
Recommended Storage Condition
Store at room temperature
Caution: EXTREMELY CORROSIVE, HANDLE WITH CARE! Avoid ingestion and contact with skin.

EDTA, 0.5 M, pH 8.0, is a sterile-filtered solution of 0.5 M EDTA in H2O treated with diethyl pyrocarbonate (DEPC).
SDS, sodium dodecyl sulfate is an anionic surfactant. SDS is commonly used in laboratory as a component of buffer for cell lysis, cell lysis during DNA extraction, and mostly in SDS-PAGE running buffer. Indeed, SDS is an anionic detergent applied to protein samples to linearize proteins and to impart a negative charge to linearized proteins.
HEPES Solution is a biological buffer useful in cell culture media. Selection of suitable nutrient medium is dependent on type of cell, conditions of culture, and degree of chemical definition required for the cell culture application.
Tris Buffered Saline (TBS) is an isotonic, non-toxic buffer used in some biomedical techniques to maintain pH within a relatively narrow range. TBS can shift pH relatively drastically as temperature changes, with the pKa declining approximately 0.03 units per degree Celsius rise in temperature.
Buffer EB is the elution buffer used in many Qiagen kits, e.g. PCR, Gel Extraction, Nucleotide Removal Kits, MinElute Kits and the QIAprep Miniprep Kits for DNA cleanup or small-scale plasmid purification. The purified DNA can also be eluted in TE (10 mM Tris-Cl, 1 mM EDTA, pH 8.0), but the EDTA may inhibit certain subsequent enzymatic reactions.
CHAPS (3-[(3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonio]-1-propanesulfonate ) is a zwitterionic detergent used to solubilize proteins. It is used as a non-denaturing solvent in the process of protein purification and is especially useful in purifying membrane proteins.
Low concentration solutions of DNA are prone to DNA degradation or other loss. It is critical that optimal methods are employed for DNA suspension and long-term storage.
MCLAB's high-purity 30% acrylamide/bis-acrylamide solution is a safer alternative to handling powdered acrylamide.
The loading dye increases the density of the sample and adds colours to the sample, thereby simplifying the loading process. The solution contains dyes that, in a electric field, move toward the anode at predictable rates.
Kanamycin Sulfate solution is an aminoglycoside antibiotic consisting of a six-membered aminocyclitol ring attached to aminosugar side chains through glycosidic bonds. Kanamycin Sulfate solution acts by inhibiting protein synthesis, and compromising translational fidelity in susceptible bacteria.
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) has many uses as a carrier protein and as a stabilizing agent in enzymatic reactions. MCLAB’s Ultrapure BSA is a "non-acetylated" BSA, pure enough to use when the integrity of DNA or RNA is essential. It has been tested for DNase, RNase, endonuclease, protease, peroxidase, and alkaline phosphatase activity, and assayed for fluorescence background.
Phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) is a balanced salt solution that is used for a variety of cell culture applications, such as washing cells before dissociation, transporting cells or tissue samples, diluting cells for counting, and preparing reagents. PBS is formulated without calcium and magnesium for rinsing chelators from the culture before cell dissociation.
