Description:
The DNA Concentrator from the American company BioDynami is an efficient tool for concentrating DNA/RNA from various samples with low concentrations, without the need for a vacuum DNA concentrator. Using patented technology that leverages the properties of SPRI beads, this kit overcomes the challenge of recovering nucleic acids shorter than 100 bp.
These magnetic beads also effectively purify DNA/RNA samples by removing unwanted components such as dNTPs, enzymes, detergents, proteins, and other contaminants.
Procedure:
The DNA/RNA concentration process using magnetic beads begins by mixing the sample containing DNA/RNA with the magnetic beads, allowing the DNA/RNA to bind to the beads. The tube is then placed in a magnetic separator, which isolates the beads with bound DNA/RNA from other impurities, which are filtered out. The beads are then washed to remove any remaining contaminants. Finally, the DNA/RNA is eluted from the beads into a new solution, resulting in a clean and concentrated DNA/RNA sample.

Efficiency:
The graph illustrates the efficiency of DNA recovery across different fragment sizes using the concentrator. For genomic DNA (gDNA) and 5 kb fragments, the recovery efficiency is approximately 94%. For smaller 200 bp fragments, the efficiency is slightly lower at around 92%. The smallest tested fragment, 25 bp, has a recovery efficiency of about 83%. The graph shows that the DNA concentrator with magnetic beads is highly effective in recovering DNA of various sizes, although efficiency slightly decreases with smaller fragment sizes.
