6-(γ,γ-Dimethylallylamino) Purine (2iP) Powder

Support of growth
Cell division
Delay of aging

Pack size: 1 g

Description:

6-(γ,γ-Dimethylallylamino) purine (2iP) is a strong cytokinin that promotes plant growth and is used for the enrichment of tissue culture media to stimulate cell division and vitality.

Features:

  • Used for supplementation of tissue culture media, e.g., MS medium.
  • Triggers cell division, leading to the proliferation of plant cells.
  • Helps maintain the health and activity of the shoot apical meristem.
  • Promotes the growth of lateral buds, thereby disrupting apical dominance, which results in denser and more branched plant growth.
  • May help delay the onset of senescence (plant aging).

Preparation guide:

  • Prepare liquid medium for tissue culture using MS or DKW medium, or other alternatives.
  • Add sugar according to the required amount of medium (e.g., 30 g sugar per 1 liter of medium), 1 ml/L PPM, and 3–4 g/L gellan gum or 6–8 g/L agar.
  • Then add the desired amount of 2iP from the stock solution.
  • Sterilize the medium for 20 minutes at 15 psi and 121°C.

Usage:

  • Micropropagation or tissue culture for rapid plant multiplication.
  • Support of callus formation.
  • Overcoming apical dominance.
  • Delaying senescence.
