FGF13-100

FGF-13 is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family.

Description
FGF-13 is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion.
FGF13 is also known as FGF homologous factor 2 (FHF-2). It is expressed in brain and skeletal muscle and has been implicated in nervous system development and function. The gene for FGF-13 has been localized in human chromosome X, in a region associated with Borjeson-Forssman-Lehmann syndrome, a syndromal X-linked mental retardation. By alternative splicing, two isoforms that differ in their amino-terminal residues have been described.
